Have More Fun

I have been following along Stacy's summer class Have More Fun and really it's more than having FUN. In August she was explaining photo album scrapbooking and I realized it was an album like that, that sparked our relationship. It's what she calls an ONgoing Album Project - an album that you update on an annual/ongoing basis. An event for me is Christmas. Remember the 'days' when Christmas photos meant you were doing 8 to 10 layouts??? Or I remember some people would dedicate one whole album to that ONE day! Well after reading Stacy's first book Simple Scrapbooks, I realized the freedom I could have with 'theme' albums - that I did not have to scrapbook chronologically or I could within a 'theme' album.

So I started this Christmas album - which I had Stacy sign when I met her for the first time! :) These pages are no longer in that CM strap hinge album - but I did take a picture of the cover before I gave it away.

Each year has four pages - first page that features the Christmas card we send out, second page is a pocket that holds the special cards we receive, third and fourth pages are a collage of pictures. I use the same format for each page, just changing the colors and using very little embellishments.

Daily Grind. Another small loss for the week -.2, I know where I am making mistakes and I know where I need to make improvements. They are just not happening...but I did discover this new salad chopper that might do the trick. I love chopped salads, but hate the work that goes into making one! So the plan is to pre-buy the ingredients and then chop it up and add the dressing later. I wasn't able to find the OXO salad chopper in any local stores so I had to buy it online direct. It is a fairly new product.

88 years

Today marks 88 years that women have had the right to vote. It hasn't been very long - that is why it saddens me to learn that most women do not vote. Check out this site and learn the statistics for each state by clicking on it. Just in my state of Washington alone:

• 342,660 single women unregistered
• 190,124 single women registered, but didn't vote in 2006

Take some time to watch this movie, Iron Jawed Angels. I have talked about this movie before and how it opened my eyes to how important it is for women to vote. Remember we have voices that count! 

SUN

The SUN has come out today! There have been a few days that looked like summer was over for us - down pours and cooler temperatures. But today is a gorgeous blue sky day - looking forward to spending some time in it once I am finished up with work.

Jack Johnson concert - not sure I would go see him again in the rain, I would much prefer his home town of Hawaii. He does put on a good show - the people that were in attendance were cracking us up. A great deal of them were drunk, stoned or both. Lots of women SWOONING over him. There was one guy next to us that was clearly IN love with him too - I have to say he is pretty cute. :) I have also decided that I need to learn how to use my point and shoot in low light settings. I must be doing something wrong because I cannot get a shot to save my life. Does anyone know a good resource?? Here is a pic from my iPhone

The rain held off for most of the concert - but we skadattled before the end.

Daily Grind. I am doing good on the eating front - but the exercise is not happening, no excuses just being LAZY. We have two parties this weekend and I am planning ahead so I don't put myself in a bad situation. I am going to eat a salad with shrimp before we leave. That way I am not so hungry when we arrive. At least that is the PLAN. ;)

Weight Watcher Wednesday -.2

That was my weight loss over two weeks. I would much rather have this than +.2, so I will take it. What were my hurdles:

• Going to the fair and making poor choices
• Going to the coast and drinking most of my calories
• All the above with no excercise
• equals -.2

Today in the meeting we talked about goal setting. How important it is to set long term and short term goals. My long term goal with Weight Watchers is ultimately weight loss and being healthy. It helped to work on their storyboard format


The long term goal is to be healthy at 115 pounds. I have been there before and it was the perfect weight but I didn't feel healthy. So what are the baby steps:

• Understand my habits and manage them
• Be at goal weight in two to three weeks
• Be in the present moment - be joyful
• Plan the details - meals, snacks, and excercise
• One to two pounds a week - lose it slowly
• Make better choices

Hope everyone is doing well! Off to the Jack Johnson concert - if they haven't canceled it yet for the winter weather we have been having...JOY! :)

Leaving again

Yes just got home and now we are heading to the Oregon coast. Which is really good timing since it's going to be 105 today!!! HOLY COW! Don't get me wrong I love warm weather but 105 is going to just put Pacific NW people over the edge today. Thankfully we are going to the coast.

Daily Grind. Didn't have a chance to weigh in this week - just was not in the cards. I really wanted to, I wish they had like a drop in deal for those weeks that your schedule is just chaotic. I have been pretty good - unfortunately going to the coast means "good" eating and not the kind of 'good' eating that makes you shed pounds.

Daily Grind... is just that, a grind. This weekend wasn't too bad but it wasn't great either. I don't remember summers being such a PIG fest! Dinner is what I am having the problem with because we go out to eat so often. How is everyone else doing?
